The Sunray-Elf ....

A very long time ago
Many seasons have passed since
The Snow-Elf, the Rain-Elf,
The elves of the wind and the ocean,
The Tear-Elf and the one of laughter,
Also the elf of the flowers and,
How else could it be, the little Sunray-Elf, met.
So that you know, what these elf-children are doing,
So that you know where you can meet them,
I will write down all of their stories
This time, the little Sunray-Elf will start,
And here is the story that she told her sisters.

As you all know, my dear sisters,
I have a lot of things to do in this season
between spring and summer.
Just imagine very early in the morning,
When its still almost dark, I have to get up already,
With the first sunray in order to give all the sweet little birds,
The many thousands of flowers, the butterflies, bugs,
And of course also the people
And especially the little children,
Their wake-up kisses.
J Its the greatest joy for me to wake up All my little patients,
The children, who cannot go out in nature,
Who cant go into the garden to play,
And also cant go to school with their friends.

It is lovely to see How all those boys and girls are happy
When they see me dancing on their bed covers,
When I twirl in their mirrors, and tickle their noses.
How I would love to stay a little longer with them,
So I can see their joy
Can see how their little cheeks are turning red,
How they are trying to catch me.
Unfortunately, as you know, my dear sisters,
We have to go on,
Because there are so many more who are waiting with longing for us,
Who are hoping to see us once again, to feel us again.

A few days ago I was up very,
very early To see the little Christine.
She is a lovely and sweet little girl,

Who has been sick in bed at home for a very long time.
She has no friends, who will come and play with her,
She is almost always alone,
because her poor, old mother Has to work very hard all day long,
In order to take care of little Christine and herself.
The other children in the neighborhood
Are playing and jumping around outside,
They are chasing each other through the fields
And Christine can hear all their laughter.
And she is sad, because she cant be playing with them.

So anyway, Im on my way to Christine,
Says the Sunray-Elf
And suddenly, down by the river I hear someone crying quietly.
I had just given the bellflower on the shore her wake-up kiss,
So she can ring her bell and let the Butterflies
and the bugs know
That it is time to get up once again.
How surprised I was to see
That the little waterlily down there
Did not open the leafs of her blossom,
Did not greet me with her gentle fragrance.
Sadly she kept her blossom closed And so
I flew down to her to comfort her
Since I thought the crying came fromher.
But how surprised I was, my dear sisters,
When I sat down on the big, green leaf,
And found a tiny little girl in the closed flower!

. The girl was as small as Tom Thumb
She was all naked and was freezing terribly.
Quickly I took her in my arms
Enclosed her with all the warmth of my sunray
And to my joy I say her opening her
Big dark blue eyes and look at me full of astonishment

My little waterlily told me
That a big crow came in the evening,
Put the little dwarf down on her leafs and took a cool bath.
Quickly I closed the leafs of the blossom around the lovely girl
In order to protect her from the cold of the night
And from the crow, told the waterlily.
There was no way for me to comfort the girl.
She was sad, freezing, and felt terribly alone.
So, the little Sunray-Elf said,

I took her in my arms
And thought about how I could help her.
Then I remembered poor, sick
Christine Who was lonely and sad in her bed
And nobody ever came to play with her and to love her.
I got to Christine, who had already been waiting for me
A little late. But how her eyes glowed
When she saw me coming through the open window!
She was holding her small, skinny arms toward me
To catch me, like she always did it when she saw me.
And how happily she looked at me
When I put this strange, beautiful being In her open hands!
Gently she closed her fingers around the little lily-girl
And I knew I had made two little, wonderful people happy.
Little Christine was not alone anymore
And the waterlily-child thats what I called her now
Had a new home now and never again
Had to be afraid of crows, the cold or lonely nights.
How wonderful it is, my dear sisters,
When we can help others
That lonely hearts can be full of joy again
When they, like Christine and the waterlily-child
Can finally feel joy again Joy, that makes the lives of people so valuable.

Little Christine is slowly recovering
And she is very happy
And every evening, when I go by her window
I hear from the window sill
How they are saying their night prayers together
And how they thank God for his great mercy.
It looks like the little waterily-child brought joy
Back into Christines life.
Her mother, in her joy,
Forgot her sorrows and worries, too
And became happy again.

So, said the Sunray-Elf,
I have fulfilled my task once again
To bring to the people a little love,
Joy and peace.
And with a deep sigh of satisfaction
The Sunray-Elf ended her story.
And now it is the turn of the Elf of flowers.
But I will tell you her story next time.
I just want to ask you one more thing:
Remember the joy of Christine
When she was not alone anymore.
If you know a sick child Share your joy with them
And your love

And give them your friendship.
It is so very important for them
In order to become healthy and strong again.
And it is so easy, to give another person
A little bit of all that. And eventually, one day
You will get back the love you gave
And so your life, too, will become even nicer
And more valuable than before.
So, said the Sunray-Elf, I have fulfilled my task once again
